Coach Heith Maxwell’s Bainbridge Middle School eighth grade Bearcats football team finished it perfect regular season 6-0 Thursday with a 48-22 victory over Cairo’s Washington Middle School eighth grade Tigers at Cairo High School’s West Thomas Stadium.
The Bearcats will host the Thomas County Middle School eighth grade Yellowjackets Thursday, October 23 at Centennial Field for the Southwest Georgia Middle School Eighth Grade League championship. Kickoff will be at 5 p.m.
“Our offense has been strong all season,” coach Maxwell said in evaluating his team’s Thursday performance in Cairo.
Running backs Tristen Love and Ed Jones, who have had strong running efforts all season, also had big scoring efforts Thursday in Cairo.
Aaron Spivie brother of varsity Bearcats running bacj Dalvin Spivie, has also run well. He really has good speed. “Washington also has a strong team and we will have to be ready when they come over here for the championship game.
“With Love and Jones running hard inside and Spivie getting open on the outside, our running game is usually hard stop,” Maxwell said.
“I really urge a big crowd to come out and support our young athletes next Thursday in the championship game at Centennial Field,” Maxwell said. “I guarantee you that it will be exciting.”
