Since 2009, the Bainbridge Community Band has been sharing their talents with Decatur County residents through their Christmas concerts at the Charles H. Kirbo Center at Bainbridge State College. This year’s concert, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2:30 p.m. promises to be a real treat for the community.  Under the direction of BHS band director Paschal Ward, the band has been rehearsing for several weeks in preparation for the free event.  In addition to the adults, most of whom are former band students, the community ensemble of wind and percussion players also includes several students from the BHS band, who were invited by Ward to participate in the group.  The group is sponsored by The Post-Searchlight, and all members are volunteers who play for the enjoyment of music and for the personal growth and challenge that a community band provides.
Sunday’s performance promises music to entertain all ages.  Many are traditional Christmas selections, while the band is also throwing in some newer light-hearted songs.  As they always do, the Bainbridge Community Band will open with The Star Spangled Banner and will follow it with music from among the following:  A Christmas Celebration, Pacem Noel, Hey Man Christmas Rocks, All is Calm, All I Want for Christmas is You, Sleigh Ride, Blue Christmas, Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer, Feliz Navidad, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Home for the Holidays and Holiday Celebration.
