This is a very special time and season of the year.
As we recognize and celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we see the expression of the season through many decorations, with colorful lights, poinsettias, giving and exchanging of gifts, Christmas trees, family gatherings, the nativity scenes and plenty of good food. Everyone should be happy during this time of year because the true reason for the season is the gift that God gave to mankind for salvation and that is he gave his only begotten Son to a lost and sinful world.
Although we can share in the excitement of this celebration, we must spread the cheer of God’s love to everyone, especially the less fortunate.
In the Gospel of Luke, he affirms Jesus’ identity and purpose on Earth.
Luke gives us a brief history of the angel appearing to Zachariah and then to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Luke was the only Greek author in the New Testament, the others were Jews.
He was a medical doctor and a man of science, so he knew how babies were born. This was a unique birth, which makes it important and different.
Jesus was born without sin and his birth is the greatest of all.
That is why we must celebrate Jesus’ birth because He is the reason for this season.
