Ralph M. “Jake” Ivey, Jr., 64, of Braselton, Ga., passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Mosley and Dr. Austin L. Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with John Dowdy, Jimmy Taylor, Larry Wilkerson, Benjy Griffin, Charles Whittaker, and Butch Yarbrough serving as active pallbearers.

Jake was born November 16, 1950 in Bainbridge, the son of Ralph M. Ivey and Caroline Fain Ivey. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1968, attended Middle Georgia State College and Georgia Southwestern State University, and served in the U. S. Army Reserves Medical Corps. He worked many years as a surgical assistant in Albany and Americus, Georgia, and spent the last several years establishing a patient health advocacy practice. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bainbridge.
Jake was an accomplished musician. He played the trumpet and sang vocals in the Tip Tops, a popular band in the l960s and 1970’s. His love for music continued into several barbershop quartets, the Big Chicken Chorus, the Stone Mountain Chorus, and Roswell United Methodist Church Choir.
Survivors include his daughter, Caroline Mousset and her husband, Cedric, of Washington, DC; his grandson, Alexandre Mousset of Washington, DC; his brothers, Dick Ivey and his wife, Diane, Jim Ivey, and Jeff Ivey, all of Bainbridge; his sister, Mary I. Dyer of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
