James C. “Jim” Perkins, 65, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015, after a 17-month battle with liver cancer.
A memorial service for James Carroll Perkins will be held on February 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home in Bainbridge, with Rev. Jean Watson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Galapagos Conservancy, 11150 Fairfax Blvd., Suite 408, Fairfax, VA, 22030 (www.galapagos.org) or the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Ave., Suite 100, Albany, GA 31701 (www.cancer.org).

He was retired from Siemens and Johnson Controls, and was most recently employed at the Supreme Court of Florida, which he enjoyed very much. Jim was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Jim was a self-described “geek” and loved all things technology. He had a passion and a talent for photography. He photographed many people’s most important moments including weddings and high school sporting events. Jim took a solo trip to the Galapagos Islands in February 2006, documenting the entire trip through his beautiful photography. He was also very passionate about LSU football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie Perkins, Geoff Taylor (April) and Jaime Taylor (Angela); his fiancée, Arlene Rentz; his brothers, Tom Perkins (Patricia) and John Perkins (Deborah); his sisters, Sue Vandersand (Jim), Ann Niemeier (Sam), Mary Jane Thompson (Grady); several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Drs. Carroll and Gwen Perkins.
