Bearcats soccer pounces Cougars continues undefeated run in region

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats soccer team improved their Region 1-AAAA record to 4-0 with a 2-1 victory over the Crisp County High School Cougars at Centennial Field last Friday.

The Cougars took the initial l-0 lead with two minutes remaining in the first half following a foul in the Bearcats penalty area. Cougar midfielder Tyler Richmond kicked the penalty goal into the left side of the net.
The Bearcats tied the score 1-1 in the 51st minute of the second half when Bearcat midfielder Alex Ward headed in his third goal of the year from 12 yards away. It went into the right corner of the net.
The Bearcats (6-3) hosted the Albany High School Indians in a Region 1-AAAA game on Tuesday. They will Travel to Americus Friday for a Region 1-AAAA match against the Americus-Sumter County High School Panthers.
Bearcats coach Chip Ariail said he thought his team was resilient against the Cougars.
“We never quit despite going down by one late in the first half,” Ariail said. “We did a great job pressing Crisp County all night, made several shots and set up several scoring chances. Fortunately, two of them made it through the back of the net. Defensively we would have lied a shutout bit overall we played pretty solid.”
