Bainbridge State College is proud to announce its newest National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) members, who were officially inducted during Wednesday evening’s ceremony.

Family, friends, and Health Science and Professional Studies (HSPS) faculty and staff, gathered to introduce and support the 19 technical students as they were officially inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.

Bainbridge State’s Technical Studies Division National Technical Honor Society’s advisors, Sheila McLendon and Denise Parker, welcomed and informed the inductees and guests about the mission and vision of the society.

The mission and vision states its purpose is to honor student achievement and leadership in career and technical education, promote educational excellence, award scholarships and enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.

Kathy Ketterer, the Dean of HSPS, was the ceremony’s guest speaker. She congratulated all the new inductees, their families and supporters, as she honored their excellent academic achievements.

To be selected as a society member, factors are considered which include scholarship, leadership, community service and character.

“This ceremony is a way of recognizing your sacrifices and the choices you made to get here,” said Ketterer. “However, I believe that what will make you and your families most proud is not the actual honor itself but what you had to do to get here.”

As students received their pins and tassels of membership, they were asked to give a certificate to someone who has helped support them along the way to their academic successes.

Ketterer said, “To succeed you need a positive attitude backed by purpose. The only way to achieve your purpose is to take small actions every day—and in the end they all add up. My hope for you is that you all will cultivate this attitude backed by purpose for the rest of your lives.”
