A Moultrie woman was arrested Sunday after Bainbridge Public Safety received word she would attempt to smuggle drugs into the Decatur County Correctional Institute.
Keyuana Quinton Bethea, 31, of Moultrie, is charged with criminal attempt to cross guard lines with contraband and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
“We received information that she would be coming into town with about a half pound of marijuana to bring into DCCI to her boyfriend who’s there,” BPS Investigator Chip Nix said.
Nix said that working with acting warden Gordon Screen, investigators learned that she was in town Sunday afternoon and arrested her at the Family Dollar on Scott Street where she was buying sandwich bags. Along with the approximate half pound of marijuana, officers also found 12 packs of tobacco wrapped in duct and electrical tape.
“It was definitely going into the prison to be resold,” Nix said.
