Bainbridge cross-country opens season with quick performances at Pelham Hornets Invitational Meet

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats cross-country team finished first and the Lady Cats finished fourth Saturday at the Pelham High School Hornets Invitational Meet.
The top two Bearcats finishers were Pancherella Leonard, who won a medal with a time of 17:33, and Caleb Harris, who won a medal with a time of 18:06. Finishing third through fifth were Bennett Enfinger, Perry Waddell and Branden Greene.
The Lady Cats Uriyah Davis finished fourth overall with a time of 22:49. Also turning in strong efforts for the Lady Cats were Camry Fillingame, Aileen Mejia, Aida Diaz and Julie Wells.
Bearcats and Lady Cats coach Yvette Greene said she was proud of all her Bearcats and Lady Cats runners Saturday.
“All of our runners have been working hard in practice and it paid off with their Saturday times,” she said.
The Bearcats and Lady Cats will return to competition Saturday when they travel to Tallahassee to take part in the Godby High School Cougars and Lady Cougars Invitational Run, which draws strong teams from Georgia and Florida.
“I look for our runners to improve their times from week to week,” Greene said. “They are all doing a good job every day in practice.”
