Coach Chris Bryant’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball divided a pair of Region 1-AAAA games this week.

Tuesday they defeated the Albany High School Lady Indians 10-3 in a region game in Albany and Wednesday they dropped a 7-4 decision to the Cook County High School Lady Hornets at the Lady Cats Diamond.

They jumped out to a quick 1-0 first inning lead over the Lady Indians. Left fielder Taylor Swanner opened the inning with a single, moved up to second and third on Fielder’s choices and came around to score on an error.

The Lady Cats added two more runs in the top of the second to increase their advantage to 3-0. Third baseman Bailey Rayfield and pitcher Reilly Fletcher got both runs home with RBI singles.

The Lady Indians rallied for three runs in the bottom of the second to go ahead 3-2. The Lady Cats came right back with five in the top of the third to reclaim the lead at 7-3.

Shortstop Desirae Beachem singled to open the Lady Cats’ third. With one away, left fielder Mckynleigh Harrell doubled to drive in Beachem and came home when third baseman Rayfield was safe on an error. Rayfield later scored on a double by first baseman Tori Sprenkle.

The Lady Cats added two in the fourth and one in the sixth to put the game away.

Sprenkle, who doubled, and center fielder Haley Thompson, who tripled, scored the fourth inning runs, and Harrell doubled to score the sixth inning run.

The Lady Hornets took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first Wednesday against the Lady Cats. Right fielder Claire Dobson opened the Lady Hornets first Wednesday with a single. Harley Paulk then followed with a triple, driving her in with the first run. With one away, left fielder Jade Bloser reached first base on an error as Pauk trotted home with the second run. Bloser stole second and came home on a single by third baseman Taylor Wilson. Left fielder Ansley Paulk then blasted a two-run home run to conclude the Lady Hornets top of the first.

The Lady Cats, who are 4-3 in Region 1-AAAA play and 6-8 overall, will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Cairo for a region game against the Syrypmaids.
