The Climax Golden Agers were made welcome by President Alma Hart at the meeting on Wednesday Sept. 16th held at the Climax Baptist Church fellowship hall.
She then gave the devotional on God Words of Contentment reading from the books of Psalm, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes. President Hart explained that she felt we have a tendency to fight God trying to explain what we feel we were made for continuing to strive for something bigger and better than what He has planned for us. When instead we should be patient kind, and accept the plan of God while all the time striving to become the person, that is real, honest, never comparing ourselves to anyone, trying to become our own best person.
Next month in Oct., the program will be a surprise according to program chair Fannie Wells. The Club will again be taking up gifts for “Toys for Tots.” Members may bring gifts valued at $5.00 or more at the Oct. and November meeting. November was also discussed as the annual fish fry time, and December will be the Christmas Party. Everyone is to bring a gift valued at no more than $10.00 to be exchanged. Example: Men should bring a man’s gift, and ladies should bring a lady’s gift.
After a discussion the club agreed not to have the chili cook off contest tentatively schedule for sometimes in the winter months, and instead decided to have a chili meal.
The birthday girl for September was Marguerite Plitnick.
Remembered in prayer due to sickness or sympathy were: Evelyn Hutchins, Gene and Jean Ann Ouzts, Sierra Rathel. Remember in Sympathy was, The Mildred Dollar family.
For the program several members shared memories of their childhood and school days. Everyone enjoyed a good meal and fellowship.
