Seventh grade Bearcats steamroll Thomas County Central

The Bainbridge Middle School seventh grade Bearcats football team improved their record to 4-0 with a 42-6 Wednesday road victory over the Thomas County Central Middle School seventh grade Yellow Jackets.
The Bearcats took an early 6-0 lead when quarterback Caleb McDowell ran 30 yards for a first quarter touchdown. The advantage moved to 14-0 in the second quarter when running back Jvon Lee ran in from two yards out and added the extra point to put the Bearcats ahead 14-0.
Early in the third quarter, Rashad Broadnax ran 50 yards for a touchdown, and Lee ran in for the two-point conversion to improve the Bearcats lead to 22-0. Later in the quarter, the Yellow Jackets scored on a 50-yard touchdown run to cut the Bearcats lead to 22-6.
The Bearcats extended their lead to 30-6 when McDowell ran around the right side for 40 yards and a touchdown, and Broadnax ran in for the two-point conversion.
Quayde Hawkins ran 25 yards for a touchdown to increase the advantage to 36-6.
The final Bearcats touchdown came on a 25 yard run by Lee.
Seventh grade Bearcats coach Blake Carruthers said he is extremely proud of his players and the strong progress that they are making.
“All of our young men are working hard and taking a lot of pride in being a Bearcat,” coach Carruthers said.
The seventh grade Bearcats will return to action next Wednesday, Sept. 30 when they travel to Thomasville to take on the Macintyre Park Middle School seventh grade Bulldogs at 5 p.m. at Thomasville High School’s Veterans Memorial Stadium. They will conclude their season Thursday, Oct. 15 when they host Cairo’s Washington Middle School seventh grade Tigers at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field.
