Bainbridge Leisure Services is offering a reward of up to $500 for information regarding a recent break-in at Bill Reynolds Sports Complex.
Damage was not extensive, but the intruder sprayed the inside of a concession room with a fire hydrant, leaving a film covering most of the room. Sprinklers for some of the baseball fields were also turned on, flooding portions of the fields that were ready for a tournament this weekend. A cash register was damaged, but as of Friday morning, BLS staff did not find anything missing from the facility.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do to get that ready for in the morning,” BLS Director Al Kelley said. “We just have a bit of cleaning to do.”
Kelley said that staff was not sure how the intruder got in, but that there may be security footage to help figure it out.
“We have a camera in the concessions, and I think we’ll have some footage,” Kelley said.
Youth Programs Director Joey Lee said that he’s working to make sure the fields are playable for the weekend’s tournament.
Kelley said that this wasn’t the first break-in at Bill Reynolds, but it was the first time someone had gotten into one of the concession buildings. He said that a previous incident had left bathrooms vandalized.
