The Bainbridge High School junior varsity Bearcats football team dropped a 26-14 game to the Cairo High School junior varsity Syrupmakers Tuesday at the Bearcats campus field.
Running back Marquel Broadnax scored both Bearcats touchdowns. In the first quarter, he ran six yards off the right side for a touchdown and stopped just short on a 2-point conversion run.
Broadnax’s scoring run, this one from 15 yards out, came in the fourth quarter. He then ran up the middle for the 2-point conversion.
Bearcats running backs coach Larry Cosby, who coached the junior varsity game with Bearcats defensive coordinator Brian Hill, said he the thought the team played well both sides of the ball Thursday.
“Offensively, our line blocked well, and Lerone Broadnax and our other backs ran hard” coach Cosby said.
The junior varsity Bearcats will conclude their season next Thursday, Oct. 15, when they host Early County High School.
