Coach Marion Bush’s Bainbridge Middle School eighth grade Lady Cats basketball team defeated the Seminole County Middle School eighth grade Lady Indians 31-15 Monday at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.
India Parris poured in a game high 13 points to lead the way for the Lady Cats.
Destiny Turner put in 9, Lashonda Williams contributed 7 and Denise Chappell scored 2.
Coach Bush said she thought her team’s strong defensive play was the key to the victory.
“We jumped out to a 12-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and never let Seminole County get close again after that,” coach Bush said. “We outscored them 19-12 the rest of the way. We also cut down on turnovers.”
The Lady Cats return to action today when they host the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth grade Yellow Jackets. Tip off at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum will be at 4:30 p.m.
“Our players started the season without much playing experience but they are improving with every game,” coach Bush said. “Our fundamentals are getting much better and our ball handling and passing has really improved.”
