Cougars win 61-47 against the Warriors, Thomas stars

Noah Thomas scored his one-thousandth-career point Tuesday night to help lead the Grace Christian Academy Cougars to a 61-47 senior night victory over Southwest Georgia Academy at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
“Noah Thomas scored his 1,000th varsity point tonight which was really exciting,” Cougars coach Mallory McRae. “We are really proud of him.”
Thomas also had a team high 25 points, pulled down five rebounds, dished out four assists and had a steal.
With Tuesday’s win the Cougars improved their overall record to 13-6 and their GISA Region AA-3 mark to 5-1.
Jack McRae was the Cougars’ second leading scorer with 22 points. He also pulled down a team high 10 rebounds, dished out four assists and had a block and a steal.
Dakota Vickers had six points and seven rebounds. Rounding out the Cougars’ box score were Anders Austinson with four points, five rebounds and an assist, Sam McRae with two points, two rebounds, a block and three steals and Nate Walton with two points and two rebounds.
Following the game Coach McRae expressed pleasure with his team’s performance.
“We started all five senior guys tonight since it was senior night,” McRae said. “That was great to see. We played a little sluggish during the first quarter. However, as halftime approached we started picking up speed. We came out in the second half and controlled the game from that point on.”
Senior basketball players honored Tuesday night were Noah Thomas, Jack McRae, Ryan Holley, Dakota Vickers and Anders Austinson.
