Harrell scores 1,000th point to lead Lady Cougars to 49-17 victory over Lady Eagles

Kelsey Harrell scored her 1,000th career point and poured in 22 on the night, leading the Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars to a 49-17 Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 3-AA victory over Valdosta’s Highland Christian School Lady Eagles at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
After the win, Lady Cats coach Erwin Harrell, whose team is 16-4 overall and 4-3 in Region play, described his team’s performance as “great.”
“The win over Highland was a great way to finish the season here at home on homecoming night,” coach Harrell said. “The ladies played great and I was really proud that my daughter Kelsey was able to get her 1,000th point at home. Her teammates did a great job helping her achieve that tonight.”
Behind Kelsey Harrell in the Lady Cougars scoring column was Perra Harrell with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, Kaitlyn Holcombe with 6 points, Lindsey Duke with 4 points, Mikey Harrell with 4 points, Carly Godwin with 2 points and Addie Elkins with 2 points and 5 rebounds,
The Lady Cats began play in the in the Region 3-AA Tournament Tuesday, Feb. 16, with a rematch against Highland at Bainbridge State College. The tournament will continue Thursday, Feb. 18, and conclude Friday, Feb. 19, with the consolation and championship games.
“Our Region Tournament should be very competitive,” coach Harrell said. “I am glad that we will be hosting it. Playing the games at the college will be like a home game for us.”
