The Bainbridge High School Bearcat and Lady Cat track teams both finished in third place overall at the Region 1-AAAA track meet in Albany. The top four finishers in each event earned the right to compete at the Class AAAA Sectional Meet in Carrollton on Saturday, April 30.

Medal winners who will compete at the Sectional Meet in Carrollton include Bearcat Poncherella Leonard who won the region championship in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs in times of 4:35.93 and 10:12.36, Zyron McGee, who finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 5 inches, and Jaylyn Scott, who won the region championship in the 300 hurdles and finished second in the 110 hurdles.

Also qualifying to compete in Carrolton were 4×400 team of Lorenzo Mitchell, Danbrell Harris, Leonard and Scott who finished third with a time of 3:25.38. Harris also qualified to compete in Carrollton with a second place finish in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.34. Damian Pierce will also advance with a fourth place finish in the 100.

Lady Cat Uriyah Davis won Region 1-AAAA championships in the 1600 and 3200 runs with times 6:02.40 and 13:28.66. Camry Fillingame will also compete in both the 1600 and 3200. Amaia Taylor advanced in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Mabrey Grace Briggs advanced with a fourth place finish in the 800, Tyaisha Gant finished third in the 400 to advance and Iesha Smart finished fourth in the triple jump to earn a spot in sectionals.
