Paul Bettison

March 17, 2016

Paul Bettison passed peacefully to heaven on March 17, 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 51years, Marie. Loved so much by all, his son Rod and daughter Deborah, Paul found great joy in being a Papa to four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He did his best to have a wonderful family. And his best is proof shown by all of us.

Born in Georgia and always my “Georgia Boy,” he settled in San Diego after his service in Vietnam. He was still proud of his service and of those that were with him and of those who now serve.

He began his career in construction in 1970. Basically he  worked for four main builders, (Mc Millian, Pacific Scene, Centex, and John Laing homes) and did they build the heck out of San Diego. There was hardly anywhere we would drive in San Diego County that Paul wouldn’t say we had a job down that area. He worked hard all his life. Worked his way up from layout man to VP of Construction.

So many phases of construction to complete a home and he put himself in all of it. Respected by so many, his treatment of his fellow workers spilled over into so many lifelong friendships. He expected you to do your job right “the Mr. B” way. But in life he knew sometimes it is your way and the rest of the time it’s God’s way.

We will treasure so many wonderful memories and will always miss and love him. Services for Paul will be held Wednesday May 18th at Mira Mesa Presbyterian Church, 8081 Mira Mesa Blvd. at 11 a.m. A lunch reception will follow. At 1 p.m. a short interment ceremony at Miramar National Cemetery will be held with a full military, 21 gun salute.

Hilliard Funeral Home was in charge.
