Andresha Rashaun Murphy Hines, 23, was arrested by Bainbridge Public Safety on Wednesday, May 25 and charged with six felony counts of forgery of financial transaction cards and six felony counts of financial transaction card fraud. Hines allegedly stole upwards of $22,000 from Southwest Georgia Oil Company before resigning from her position in April.

“I actually interviewed her Monday, [May 23],” BPS investigator Chris Jordan said. “She admitted to everything then she turned herself in Wednesday, [May 25], morning.”

BPS was contacted by Southwest Georgia Oil Company in early May and provided with documents including invoices, account information, receipts and forms ,which implicated Hines in the theft. She allegedly reopened six closed accounts and printed credit cards tied to the accounts. The cards were then used to make multiple purchases totaling $22, 745.96, before the accounts were reclosed. The six accounts were hit with charges ranging from $6,121.20 to $2,007.99.

The accounts that were reopened had been closed for a minimum of seven years with the majority of the accounts having been closed in 1999 and one of the accounts having been inactive since 1997. The first account was reopened in 2013 and the sixth and final account was reopened in late 2014 before being closed in mid-2015.

According to Jordan, the thefts were not noticed until after Hines resigned in April.

“They basically knew she was the one doing it,” Jordan said. “When they turned everything over to me I verified it and determined it was her.”

Hines reportedly offered to repay the money, but executives at Southwest Georgia Oil Company chose to press charges against her.
