Barracudas open swim season

Coach Heather Battenberg’s Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA and Bainbridge Leisure Services Department Barracudas Swim Team opened their season May 14 with a strong effort in their Spring Invitational Meet at the YMCA pool.
Coach Battenberg said she thought her team performed very well for their first meet. “Some of the times were a little off, but overall they were pretty good,” she said. “I am confident the times will continue to get better as the season progresses.”
Barracuda Ava Bennett won the seven and eight year old girls 50-yard freestyle in a time of 43.76 and her teammates Carlee Matthews and Callie Jones were fourth and fifth in times of 50.00 and 51.73.
Barracuda swimmers captured the top three spots in the nine and 10-year-old 50-yard freestyle. Ali Bennett was first in a time of 36.83, Carissa White was second in a time of 39.44 and Allee Dickson was third in a time of 41.00.
Josh Fillingame won the 11 and 12-year-old boys 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:20.49 and his Barracuda teammate Timothy Long was second in a time of 1:27.60.
Barracuda Haley Helms was third in the 15 to 18 year old girls 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:05.89.
Kara Overman, Ava Bennett, Carlee Mathews and Callie Jones took first in the mixed eight year old and under 100-yard medley relay in a time of 1:4 9.56. Third place went to the Barracudas team of Carrington Smith, Sydni Avery, Caiden Ethdridge and Patrick Cox in a time of 3:25.34
The Barracudas team of Alyssa Bradshaw, Luke Pierce, Joshua Long and Harper Page won the 10 year old and under 100 yard medley relay in a time of 1:24.15 and the Barracudas team of Ali Bennett, Carussa White, Jewel Anvar and Allee Dickson finished second in a time of 1:24.44.
The Barracudas 12 and under 200-yard medley relay team of Timothy Long, Ramsey Mathews, Paige Overman and Josh Fillingame finished second in a time of 3:05.28 and the Barracudas mixed 14 and under 200-yard medley relay team of Kaydon Newberry, Emily Sullivan, Christie Whitaker and Hayden Kincaud finished second in a time of 2:51.91.
The Barracudas mixed 18 and under 200-yard medley relay team of Thad Whitaker, Haley Helms, Katie Campbell and Jenner Cerone finished third in a time of 2:19.76.
Barracuda Carrington Smith won the six year old and under 25-yard freestyle in a time of 35.65.
Barracuda Caiden Ethridge took third in the six year old and under 25-yard freestyle in a time of 51.97.
Ava Bennett won the seven and eight year old 25- yard freestyle in a time of 1:20.113 and Barracudas Ali Bennett, Carissa White and Allee Dickson took the top three spots in the nine and 10-year-old 25-yard freestyle in times of 16.45, 17.59 and 18.01.
Barracuda Ramsey Mathews took third in the 11 and 12 year old 50-yard freestyle in a time of 33.87. Timothy Long and Josh Fillingame were first and second in the 50-yard freestyle in times of 38.18 and 38.35.
Emily Sullivan was third in the 13 and 15-year-old 50-yard freestyle in a time of 34.19 and Haley Helms was third in the 15 to 18 year old 50-yard freestyle in a time of 29.02.
Carrington Smith won the six year old and under 25-yard breaststroke.
Ava Bennett was second in the seven and eight year old 25-yard breaststroke in a time of 28.41 and Carissa White and Ali Bennett were first and second in the nine and 10-year-old 25-yard breaststroke in times of 22.76 and 22.83.
Bennett Barrow won the seven and eight year old 25-yard breaststroke in a time of 40.81.
Connor Jarrett took third in the nine and 10 year old 25-yard breaststroke in a time of 29.42 and Ramsey Mathews and Paige Overman took second and third in the 11 and 12 year old 50-yard breaststroke in times of 50.08 and 50.70.
Josh Fillingame won the 11 and 12-year-old 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 52.54 and Emily Sullivan and Hayden Kincaid were first and second in the 50-yard breaststroke in times of 40.12 and 53.92.
Haley Helms took second in the nine and 10 year old 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 40.22.
Ava Bennett and Callie Jones were first and second in the seven and eight year old 100- yard individual medley in times of 2:06.00 and 2:18.45 and Allie Bennett won the nine and 10-year-old individual medley in a time of 1:38.07.
Josh Willingham won the 11 and 12-year-old 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:43.34, Ava Bennett won the seven and eight year old 25-yard breaststroke in a time of 26.22 and Ali Bennett won the nine and 10-year-old 25-yard backstroke in a time of 21.07.
Timothy Long won the 11-and12 year old 50-yard backstroke in a time of 50.35. Emily Sullivan took second in the 13 and 14 year old 50-yard backstroke in a time of 40.03. Carrington Smith won the six year old and under 25-yard butterfly in a time of 45.51.
Caiden Ethridge took second in the six and under 25-yard butterfly in a time of 54.70,
Allee Dickson took second in the nine and 10 year old butterfly in a time of 22.29 and Josh Fillingame and Brandon Carvijal took first and second in the 11 and 12 year old 50- yard butterfly in times of 50.92 and 57.40.
