Adrian Chamberlain’s tomato and Vidalia onion puff tart, Elaine Paquet’s New England corn chowder and Paula Chamber’s peach upside down cake were named the three winners of the inaugural Bainbridge Farmers’ Market recipe contest.
“I was thrilled, because from conception to doing it was a week and a half,” board member Carol Dupree said.
There were eight total entries in the contest including four in the tomato category and two each in the peach and corn categories. Other entries included a tomato-bacon pie and sun dried tomato bruschetta.
“I think it was pretty successful,” Rose Geiger said. “They were all great, the recipes were all good. People seemed to enjoy it.”
The winners each received a trophy and a $25 gift card for the farmers’ market. The entries will also be among the recipes featured a planned farmers’ market cookbook. There are also plans to make the recipe contest a bi-annual event with one being held in the spring and another in the fall each year. The categories will change based on what produce is in season.
