The best basketball players in Decatur County will have the chance to compete for a gold championship ring and bragging rights on Saturday. Kids ‘n Kops is hosting its first annual 3-on-3-basketball tournament Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at the Bill Reynolds Sports Park.
The teams will compete in a double elimination tournament with each game being played to 15.
The registration fee for teams in the eight to nine age group and the ten to twelve age group is $20. The fee is $25 for teams in the 13-14 age group, $30 for the 15-18 age group and $45 for the 19-up age group.
The first and second place team in each group will receive a gold championship ring and the first place team in the 15-18 and 19-up age groups will receive a cash prize dependent on the number of entries.
“Great prizes,” Bainbridge Public Safety officer and Kids ‘n Kops coordinator Kenneth Ellison said. “Nice gold ring for championship and if permitted, enough funding comes through, it’ll be $225 to the winner for the open and $150 for 15 to 18 league.”
The event is being held to support Kids ‘n Kops ongoing efforts in the community.
“All proceeds be going to Kids ‘n Kops for the summer camp,” Ellison said. “So fishing, hunting and camping.”
Teams can register in advance online at KidsandKops.com, at city hall or at Bainbridge Public Safety. They can also register at the event on Saturday.
