The Decatur County School system has announced that schools will be closed on Friday due to transportation issues related to the Bainbridge High football game in Rome, Georgia. Friday was originally scheduled to be a half-day.
“To get all the kids up there puts us kind of short on [bus] drivers for Friday,” Superintendent Tim Cochran said. “It could create a little bit of chaos in the afternoon routes because of not having enough drivers to get all the kids up there and then get all the kids home on Friday. We didn’t want to cut anyone short on going to the game. You’ve got a bunch of band buses and football buses and I don’t want to short them and I want to make sure everybody is safe.”
Decatur County Schools will then be closed the week of Nov. 21-25 for Thanksgiving. They will return to a normal schedule on Monday, Nov. 28.
The Bearcats will kickoff against Rome High School at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
