The Grace Christian Academy boys basketball improved its record to 2-1 with a 48-40 victory over Aucilla Christian Academy on Thursday.
Sam McRae was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 23 points. He also had four rebounds and two steals. Caleb Carr was second on the team with nine points and Clay Wells was third with eight points.
“I thought it was a really good team win,” head coach Mallory McRae said. “Aucilla was a very big and physical team. We did get out rebounded but our guys fought extremely hard on the boards. We played really good defense and that caused them to shoot a low percentage from the field. I think that was the difference in the game.”
Carr also had three rebounds and three steals and Wells had three rebounds and a steal.
Nate Walton finished the game with four points and led the team with eight rebounds and two blocks. Jared Duke added four points and two rebounds in the win.
The Cougars return the court on Saturday, Dec. 3, with a home game against Emmanuel Christian. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
