The Bainbridge Lady Cats snapped back from a tough weekend of back-to-back losses with a win over the Thomasville Lady Dogs Tuesday afternoon.
Bainbridge won 43-38, coming back from a slow start in the first quarter and pouring in 17 points to take the lead at halftime.
The Lady Cats trailed 9-3 at the end of the first quarter, surged ahead 20-11 at halftime and 36-26 at the end of the third quarter.
Tyra Smart led the charge for Bainbridge with 12 points, going 4-for-12 from the field. Nadia Marshall was behind her with 11 points, hitting 4-of-14, and Tytania Roseborough had 10 points shooting 3-for-7.
All of Smart’s points were from 3-pointers as she drained four throughout the contest. Roseborough put in two 3-pointers and the Kiarra King put in one.
The Lady Cats were also strong at the free throw line, going 6-for-8. Turnovers were still a problem for Bainbridge, though, as they committed 20 compared to the Bulldogs’ 12.
Bainbridge is in its final stretch of the season as it has five more games, three of them region matchups, before the region tournament in February. Friday, the Lady Cats host Warner Robins at 5 p.m. and then travel to Thomas County Central Saturday for a game a 6 p.m.
