An exhibit of the photographic works of the members of the Southwest Georgia Photography Club opened with a public reception in the Firehouse Arts Center Thursday evening. 

A wide range of subjects is reflected in the various interests and travels of the individual members. One outstanding display is the one of the photography safari taken by Becky Barden in August, 2016.  She won a 10-day trip to Tanzania by entering a Facebook drawing. This experience led to another travel opportunity when she was awarded a scholarship to attend a one-week photographic institute in San Antonio, Texas in January.

The group, which organized about five years ago, currently has 15 members who meet monthly on the first Thursday at the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge. In addition to learning and sharing photography skills, the group often takes short day trips to photograph scenic views in the area, or walking tours around Bainbridge.

Current president is Mitch Miller of Lake Seminole. Both he and his wife Becky are charter members of the group and the entire west wall is filled with their diphotographic skills.

The organization welcomes new members of all levels of skills—beginners or semi-professional.

The exhibit will continue to be open to the public Fridays, 3 to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 4 p.m. It closes on March 5.
