The Grace Christian Academy boys and girls varsity teams resumed GISA region play Thursday, March 23rd, traveling to Cordele to take on the Crisp Academy teams.
The Grace girls swept singles play, with Mikey Harrell, Caroline Wells, Carly Godwin and Abby Mills all winning handily. The Grace doubles team of Sarah Castoro and Olivia Penela defeated their Crisp opponents, while Kate McRae and Abby Mills lost a close match to their Crisp rivals. Winning 5 courts to 1, it was a good trip to Cordele for the girl’s team.
In a rematch of last year’s boys region championship, it took Clay Wells and John Hunter Willis two and a half hours to settle the score, but Wells managed to come out on top of his longtime rival, 8 to 6.
Jeb Smith and Chason Wood dropped their singles matches, as did the doubles teams of Mason Duke/Branch Austinson. Due to some absences on both teams, Mason Duke teamed up with Thad Whitaker to play another match against Crisp and managed to win handily.
Grace was back in Bainbridge Monday, March 27 competing against GISA region rivals SGA and Westwood. SGA hosted the event, playing Grace first.
In girls singles play, Caroline Wells dropped a well contested match against Emily Earnest 9-7 while Mikey Harrell and Carly Godwin bettered their competitors from Damascus.
Doubles team Kate McRae/Abby Mills and Sarah Castoro/Olivia Penela had no trouble defeating their SGA rivals.
GCA took four courts and only dropped the one.

Thad Whittaker and Wyatt Carpenter dropped their match to team Hall/Cooper.
In girls singles competition against Westwood, Mikey Harrell beat McKenley Coleman 8-6 and Caroline Wells defeated Amanda Hosey 8-2, but Carly Godwin lost to Lauren Allen.

Westwood swept the doubles matches over teams Austinson/Duke and Whitaker/(Blake) Rykard. Despite losing 3 courts to 2 in boys’ play,
