The Bearcats dropped a close 3-2 game against Madison (Florida) Thursday to close the regular season.
Nick Barber pitched for five innings and Dalton Harrell closed for Bainbridge.
Bainbridge’s runs were scored by Carson Inlow and Clark Wiggins.
“They were awfully athletic and well-coached,” Coach Brian McCorkle said. “They made the plays and the pitcher threw strikes.”
The loss snaps a seven-game win streak for the Bearcats, but McCorkle was positive about how his guys were playing.
“We are playing our best ball and hitting our stride a little bit,” McCorkle said. “We look forward to the challenge.”
Bainbridge’s first round opponent will be Star’s Mill next Friday, April 28. Each playoff series is designed as a doubleheader on Friday, followed by game three on Saturday if needed.
The Panthers are 24-4 and 18-0 in Region 3-AAAAA, claiming first place in front of McIntosh (12-5).
“They are awfully excited about the opportunity to play such a quality opponent,” McCorkle said about his players. “They know it is tough, but they look forward to the challenge.”
