After fighting a blaze on Broad Street Tuesday morning, BPS was dispatched at 9:24 a.m. on Wednesday to fight a house fire at 812 Church Street.
According to Bainbridge Public Safety fire chief Doyle Welch, the fire on Church Street was due to two trash fires at 810 Church Street getting out of control.
812 Church Street is located off of the road, nestled between 814 Church Street, which sits on the road, and 810 Church Street, which is off of the road.
“(810) had two trash piles burning,” said Welch. “The fire got out of hand and got into the vacant structure. It caught on fire and was fully involved by the time we got there.”
The family at 810 Church Street owned the vacant house that was 812 Church Street.
Due to the close proximity to the other properties, the flames from the fire melted the vinyl sidings of the home at 810 as well as burned at vehicles from both 810 and 814 Church Street.
“It was all the perfect conditions for it,” said Welch. “You had a breeze blowing plus all that stuff was old lumber so it went up.”
The home was vacant and was owned by the family in 810 Church Street. Since the house was vacant, there are no injuries and no displacement involved with this fire.
