Mr. James Edmond Sr., 81, of Attapulgus, Ga., departed this life Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Georgia.
Mr. Edmond was a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Attapulgus, where he served faithfully until his health failed. He served as a trustee, chairman of the Steward Board, a lead singer in the choir and he was on the building committee.
He was married to Mrs. Totsie Swain Edmond, and three children were born to this union. He was a family man and he enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest in his many endeavors. James was a hard worker. He worked at Engelhard for 40 plus years. He enjoyed his family and loved to go fishing. He enjoyed farming.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 60 years, Totsie B. Edmond; children, James Edmond Jr., Dewitt (Patricia) Edmond of Attapulgus, and Mercedes (Steven) Jones of Quincy, Florida; brother David (Irene) Edmond of Attapulgus; grandchildren, Richo, Monica (Terrell), Joseph (Phan), Vincent J. and Jasmyn Edmond, Courtney, Steve and Aleena Williams; great-grands, Jade, Venice, Amber, Cayden, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Asyah, Tasrick and Brodie; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Bethel A.M.E. Church of Attapulgus, where Rev. Ellis Smith is Pastor, Rev. John Thomas officiating and Rev. Alexander Mack presiding.
