The Bainbridge High School Girls Varsity Soccer team scored four first half goals in route to a 6-0 victory over Americus-Sumter last Thursday night at Centennial field.

The Lady Bearcats took a 1-0, in the 8th minute, as Bainbridge Sophomore Midfielder Ashton Brock intercepted a clearance pass at the top of the Lady Panthers’ penalty area and quickly lofted a shot over the GoalKeepers head from 17 yards away for the initial score.

In the 16th minute Bainbridge added to their lead and scored their second goal to increase the score at 2-0. Lady Bearcat Sophomore midfielder Jamya Brinson settled an Lady Panther goalkeeper’s punt, and quickly used a wall pass to Junior Forward Mabry Briggs who sent a touch pass back to Brinson.

Brinson then split two defenders on a breakaway and sent a sharp angled shot from a few yards away to the right side for the goal.

Bainbridge made the score 3-0 in the 29th minute, as Bainbridge Sophomore Midfielder Taylor Emmons sent a free kick Forward to Midfielder MacKenzie Pickle who sent a lead pass to Senior Wing Paige Stegall who scored on a shot from 6 yards out.

The last Bainbridge goal of the first half came in the 35th minute, as Emmons sent a shot that ricocheted off of the right goal post and due to an opportunistic angle, in front of Senior Bainbridge Midfielder Kamerin Timmons who finished off with a shot for a goal, from two yards out.

Bainbridge scored two more goals in the second half, as the Lady Bearcats found the back of the nets in the 53rd and 70th minute of the game.

The fifth goal was the result of a breakaway by Emmons who received a pass from Brinson and split the Lady Panther defense scoring from 8 yards away.

Sophomore Forward McKenna Stegall scored Bainbridge’s sixth and final goal, as sister Paige intercepted a Lady Panther pass and sent it forward. McKenna raced pass several defenders before getting away a 10 yard scoring shot to the left side. 

Freshman Goal Keeper Keliya Pryor was credited with the shutout and had one save for Bainbridge.
