On Friday, August 10, Bainbridge Public Safety responded to an armed robbery at Port One Liquors, where two men wearing ski masks robbed the clerks at gunpoint.

Officer Leroy Akins and Sgt. McCain entered the store and had customers clear out so they could begin checking for clues. Sgt. McCain located an unspent round on the floor, while Akins made contact with the two clerks, Quyie Vickers and Pamela Brown.

Vickers told Akins that two black males entered the store wearing black ski masks, and one of the males had an assault rifle with a laser on it. Vickers said when they entered, she immediately ran to the back and pressed the panic alarm button.

Brown told officers she was preparing to cash check for some customers, when the two men ran into the store with their weapons. Brown said the subject with the assault rifle told her to go to the safe and she complied.

The subject then took all the money, but did not attempt to get money from the front cash drawer. He then aimed his assault rifle at Brown and demanded her keys. Brown took her keys off the counter and handed them to him, before he ran out of the store.

The subjects drove off in Brown’s black 2005 Durango, which was later located on Carter Street after being abandoned.

The subjects made off with a large sum of money. The case is still active and ongoing.
