Judge reverses emergency closure of ATLAS Educational Services

ATLAS Educational Services, a Bainbridge daycare that was issued an emergency three-week shutdown by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning last week, is open again.
DECAL ordered the emergency closure after starting an investigation into allegations of a minor allegedly being touched by a counselor in training at the daycare.
Other reasons for the emergency closure include the provider never informing parents of the distinction between its licensed program and an exempt summer camp program, as required by law. In addition, the director of both programs has been deemed unqualified to care for children, DECAL stated.
After an appeal by ATLAS last Friday at the Georgia Office of State Administrative Hearings in Atlanta, a judge determined there was not enough evidence for the emergency closure.
While ATLAS Educational Services remains open, investigations into the allegations will continue.
