Siblings selling sweet spreads for good cause

A group of siblings and friends are raising money at their homemade jam stand for the fifth year in a row to donate to a local cause.
Chloe, Luciano and Evelyn Mazzei, along with Blair Padgett pick fruit and herbs from the Mazzei garden during the summer. They plant three dozen of each plant in March, so during harvest time if one didn’t do as well, they still have plenty to can and use to make jam.
Mother, Jennifer Mazzei said this really helps her kids and teaches them what they can do in the community.
“They see how much it costs to help others and sometimes that means sacrificing other things,” Jennifer said.
In the past, the children have raised enough money to buy six bunk beds for an orphanage in Uganda; they have given to the widows and poor in the community and have also bought an AC unit for an elderly woman.
This year, they believe they want to donate their money to a victim from a recent house fire and help with the needs he may have.
The kids are selling coffee jelly, lavender jelly, orange creamsicle jelly, rosemary jelly, blueberry- lime jelly, cherry marmalade, grape jelly, peach jam, cherry jam, fig preserves and jam, strawberry jam, blackberry jam, and pickles.
All of the pickles, grapes, pears, rosemary and lavender come from the Mazzei garden, while the peaches usually come from North Georgia.
The kids will be selling until they run out, and are located on 1103 Lake Douglas Road. They hope everyone comes out and supports their cause and enjoys “Jammin for Jesus.”
