Seventh grade Bearcats get hot 2-0 start

The seventh grade Bainbridge Bearcats basketball team (2-0) defeated the Whigham Middle School Indians 59-12 last week.
Leading the scoring for the Bearcats were Adyn Grant with 12 points, Tyrone Clark and Amari Yabrough with 11 points apiece, Cam Sanders with 6 points, Mikel Kendrick and Kennan Phillips with 5 points apiece, Zyrell Williams with 4 points, Jeremy Dicks with 3 points, and Corin McKay finished out the scoring with 2 points.
“I am proud we started our season opener with a win,” said coach Patrick Clark. “The players are learning a new system of playing basketball along with myself and we feel encouraged that we will continue to improve as the season progresses.”
The team also defeated the Washington Middle School Tigers by the score of 43-21.
Leading the way in scoring for the Bearcats was Adyn Grant 21 points, Mikel Kendrick 9 points, Zyrell Williams 7 points, Corin McKay and Cam Sanders with 2 points apiece, and finishing out the scoring column was Tyrone Clark and Denzell Chappell with 1 point apiece.
“This is our second game of the season and the players are starting to understand the importance of playing solid defense and sharing the ball on offense,” said Clark. “We must do a better job on free throw shooting and rebounding.”
