Tuesday, December 18, the Bainbridge- Decatur County Recreation Authority in partnership with Anytime Fitness and the West Haven will be hosting a Jingle Bell Jog and toy drive.
The jog will trail through the Lights Along the River at the Earle Mae Boat Basin Park and have a variety of different options for families. Runners can choose between the 5K, the one-mile run, the kid run or the family fun run.
The 5K is for ages 10 & up, the one-mile run is for ages 10-17, the kid run is for children ages 6-9 and the family run is for all ages.
Each division will have an ugly sweater contest; they are encouraging all participants to wear their ugliest sweater to run in and families to coordinate as the family run participants also have a chance to win most festive family.
The prices vary for the different categories.
A family of four costs $18 and an additional $5 for each child. The kid run costs $8 a child, the 5K costs $15 and the one mile run costs $12. T-shirts will also be available for $10.
The event will be one for the whole family to enjoy as Santa will lead the family fun run and cookies and hot cocoa will be available after. Kids will even be able to give their letter to Santa if they would like.
Children are asked to donate a toy to the West Haven the day of the event. All the toys collected will benefit foster and underprivileged children in our area. Some of the families who are hoping to spend quality time together this holiday season have requested games such as Yahtzee, Uno, Candy Land, Phase 10 and Apples to Apples if children need suggestions.
Check-in will be from 2- 5:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Building the day of the event, with the first run starting at 6. The Recreation Authority is hoping to see everyone there and make this a race to remember.
