Baseball is known as America’s pastime. Without our country’s military serving tirelessly to protect our freedom, this great sport couldn’t be played.
Bainbridge baseball will show its appreciation for active military personnel and veterans for the third annual Military Appreciation Night next Wednesday, April 17.
Before Bainbridge’s game against Tift County, local military and law enforcement will be honored at the center of the diamond and shake hands with players from both teams.
Bainbridge players will wear special camouflage to commemorate the event.
“It is a small token of our appreciation for what our service members in the military and law enforcement do, and the sacrifices they have made for country and local communities,” said Bainbridge coach Brian McCorkle. It’s important to understand the sacrifices they made so we can play the American game.”
Military will receive free admission to the game. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m. Those interested in being recognized during the ceremony should arrive at the Bainbridge fields 30 minutes ahead of time.
Bainbridge’s baseball fields are located at 1 Bearcat Blvd. off Highway 84 East.
