Bearcat baseball blows out Packers, drops two

The Bainbridge baseball team had a huge first couple of innings against Colquitt County last Wednesday, downing the Packers 11-1.
The Bearcats got things moving in the first inning, when Colton Harrell singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Bainbridge put up four runs in the second inning. Ivan Velasquez, Nolan Barr, and Kaleb Varnum all drove in runs.
Cayden Sconyers pitched Bainbridge to victory, lasting five innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out three.
Bainbridge smacked one home run on the day. Velasquez went deep in the first inning.
The Bearcats totaled ten hits. Sam Boutwell, Harrell, and Varnum each managed multiple hits for the team. Boutwell went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Bainbridge in hits.
Saturday, Bainbridge lost to Glenwood 14-6.
The Bearcats struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Glenwood, giving up 14 runs.
Glenwood got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run for Glenwood.
Glenwood pulled away for good with nine runs in the third inning.
Bainbridge tallied ten hits. Nolan Barr and Quayde Hawkins all collected multiple hits for the Bearcats. Hawkins and Barr each collected two hits to lead Bainbridge.
Glenwood collected 15 hits on the day.
On Monday, Bainbridge watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-2 loss to Cairo on Monday.
Cairo scored five runs in the second inning. Nick Barber took the loss for Bainbridge. He went one inning, allowing one run on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Michael Conder led the Bearcats with two hits in three at bats.
Cairo saw the ball well, racking up ten hits in the game. Bainbridge had three.
