Bainbridge gymnasts dazzle on national stage

The Bainbridge Gymnast-A-Cats competed at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Disney World recently. The girls won a total of 60 medals.
These gymnast qualified for the honor of being part of the Georgia state team in the national competition. They train at Murkerson Gymnastic Training Center and are coached by Melynda Murkerson and Leslie Godwin .
Also making waves at the National gymnastics competition was 9-year-old Sage Russell, who brought home the gold for Bainbridge.
She won first place on vault with a score of 9.850, first place on balance beam score 9.850, first place on floor exercise with a score of 9.725, third place on bars score 9.50 and first place All Around with a score of 38.925, the highest All Around score of the entire meet of all ages divisions with over 400 gymnast.
The national competition was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. Sage received the coveted All-American Award for excellence with the top score of the competition. Sage is the National Champion for 2019
This is Sage’s first year competing and her first year taking gymnastics. Murkerson said Sage is hard-working and easy to coach. She is a member of the Bainbridge Gymnast-A-Cats.
