The Chamber of Commerce and local educators recently partnered to benefit our emerging workforce.
The purpose of the Chamber’s Industry Immersion Tour is to bring together local educators and industrialists, promote cooperation and collaboration, enhance job opportunities for future employees and improve the overall economic climate in the area. The goal is for educators to see real world scenarios of how students can and are applying what they are learning in class to a local career.
On Tuesday, Aug. 6, Educators with the Decatur County CTAE program (Career, Technical and Agricultural Education) toured Danimer Scientific and Shaw Industries. Educators learned about operations in addition to what careers these local industries offered. Among some of the topics discussed were resume guidelines, soft skills and knowledge of software needed to start the application process.
Also discussed were continuing education, tuition reimbursement, internships, salaries and employee expectations.
