Gordon Eldridge Bryant was born August 17, 1938 in Iona, Fla., the son of Wilson Langley Bryant and Hattie Louise Williams Bryant. He earned a high school diploma then proudly served his country for twenty-two years in the United States Air Force. Upon retirement from the military, Gordon worked at G. Pierce Wood Hospital and Sunland Hospital as supervisor of maintenance then as a security guard for Wackenhut Home Security in Ft. Myers, FL. He married Sandra R. Johnson and they made their home in Moore Haven, Fla. and most recently in Chattahoochee. He was a member of Recovery United Methodist Church.
A patriot for sure, Gordon loved his country and did not take his freedom for granted. He shared his legacy with his children and grandchildren. His family heritage became quite a project listed on his ancestry.com account. Dancing, raising goats and NASCAR were favorite pastimes. (Gordon’s favorite driver was the infamous Richard Petty.) He loved music and listened to old gospel favorites and blue grass.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sandra R. Bryant of Chattahoochee; his children, Shane D. Bryant and his wife, Karen, of Hawthorne, Fla., Marion Parker Flint of the Recovery Community and Sandra Kelly of Bainbridge, Ga.; his siblings, Pearl Espinoza and her husband, Joe, of Moore Haven, Fla., Laura Daniels also of Moore Haven, Wilson L. Bryant of Colorado and Billy & Patricia Bryant of Margate, Fla.; his grandchildren, Valerie, Nicholas, Jacob and Ross; and his great-grandchildren, Dalton and Ceslie. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his son, Gordon P. Bryant; and his siblings, Louise Williams, Leo Bryant, Elmer Bryant and Tommy Bryant.
