Bainbridge basketball swats Yellow Jackets

Bainbridge took on Thomas County Central in Thomasville last Saturday, with both the Bearcats and Lady Cats leaving town with a W.
The boys (7-4) won 70-45, evening up their region record to 1-1. The girls (5-6) beat TCC 50-44, also setting them up with a 1-1 region record.
Bainbridge took a 14-10 lead in the first quarter and started running away with it in the second quarter, adding another 21 points to the Yellow Jackets’ 10. Bainbridge continued to dominate with a 52-36 third quarter lead. The Bearcat defense held TCC to only 9 points in the fourth quarter.
KJ Cochran had a huge game for the Bearcats, grabbing 7 rebounds and pouring in 19 points to lead the team in scoring. Behind him was Mark Taylor Jr. with 11 points. Other scorers for the Bearcats were Tyrell Bryant with 9 points, Alvanni Williams with 8 points, Lathan Levens with 7 points, Dylun Worlds with 6, Dorian Cooper and TJ Tarver with 3 points each, and Deyon Bouie and Ahmari Borden with 2 points each.
The Lady Cats had a tight game with TCC in the first half, jumping out to a 15-10 lead in the first quarter and holding strong with a 23-18 lead at halftime. Bainbridge’s defense turned up the heat in the third quarter, holding the Lady Jackets to just 3 points while adding 11 points to their score. TCC came back strong in the fourth quarter with 23 points, but Bainbridge was able to hold the lead and come away with the win.
In double figures for the Lady Cats were India Parris with 12 points and Denise Chappell with 10 points. Other scorers for the Lady Cats were Anndrea Porter and Detavia Salter with 8 points each, Taralyn Brown with 6 points, Angel Peterson with 5 points and Kirston Noble with 2 points.
The Bainbridge J.V. Lady Cats (5-2) lost 34-52. Raven Williams led the team in scoring with 9 points.
The J.V. Bearcats (8-2) won 58-15. In double figures for the boys were Lathan Levens with 14 points and Adyn Grant with 11 points. KJ Bryant was just short of the mark with 9 points.
The Bainbridge basketball teams took on Early County at home Tuesday and will travel to Americus-Sumter on Saturday. The girls tip off at 6 p.m. and the boys tip off at 7:30 p.m.
