Bearcats claw Early County Bobcats

The Bainbridge Bearcats traveled to Early County Tuesday night and beat the Bobcats 67-61, improving their record to 8-4 and helping the team fine tune their game ahead of the final stretch of the season.
The first half wasn’t going the Bearcats’ way. They took a 15-14 lead in the first quarter but fell behind 32-26 by halftime. A huge second half pushed Bainbridge ahead. They scored 21 points in the third quarter and another 20 in the fourth to seal the win.
Tyrell Bryant had a double-double for Bainbridge, putting up 14 points and grabbing 10 total rebounds against Early County.
Also in double figures for the Bearcats were KJ Cochran with 17 points and TJ Tarver with 11 points. Other scorers for the Bearcats were Dewayne Kyles with 8 points, and Alvanni Williams, Mark Taylor Jr. and Dorrian Cooper with 6 points each.
The Lady Cats (5-7) took a 47-28 loss to Early County, scoring only 10 points in first half but coming out stronger in the second half with 18 points.
Scorers for the Lady Cats were Taniah Register with 6 points, Taralyn Brown with 5 points, Ashanta Peterson, Anndrea Porter and Detavia Salter with 4 points each, India Parris with 3 points and Destiny Turner and Kirston Noble with 1 point each.
JV Bearcats (9-2) won 45-12. In double figures for the boys was Dialan Beard with 12 points. Adyn Grant was just short of the mark with 8 points.
Bainbridge travels to Americus-Sumter on Saturday to take on the Panthers. Tipoff is 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys. Bainbridge’s next home game is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 3, against Veterans.
