The top 10 taxpayers in Decatur County in 2019 accounted for more than $5 million in tax revenue for the county.
This year’s tax rolls show an increase of more than $3 million from 2018’s top 10 taxpayers.
Leading the way is Southern Power Company, who paid $2.1 million. This payment represents the almost 200-acres of solar panel property in the north part of Decatur County.
The biggest piece of solar panel property is 168 acres.
Georgia Power Company was the second biggest taxpayer of 2019 with just over $1 million paid. BASF Catalysts LLC accounts for $800,229.42 of 2019’s tax revenue and is the third highest payer. The fourth place spot is a steep drop from there, where records show Shaw Industries Inc. paid $260,045.07.
CSX Transportation Inc. paid $240,160.64 in property taxes in 2019 and is the fifth highest payer, followed by Sanfilippo in the sixth spot at $239,912.86. Engelhard Corp. is the seventh highest payer with $200,316.25.
At eighth is Georgia Transmission, accounting for $162,120.60 of taxes paid in 2019, followed by Grade Electric Membership at ninth with $157,188.26 and TransMontaigne Product at 10th with $153,768.81 in taxes paid.
