On the morning of Wednesday, January 29, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) announced it had achieved record student enrollment for the eighth consecutive term. For the spring 2020 semester, SRTC’s total enrollment hit a new record high for a spring semester of 4997 students.

This growth represents a 15.1% increase in total enrollment with a 15.4% increase in full-time equivalency when compared with SRTC’s spring 2019 figures. These numbers are more than triple the statewide average enrollment growth across the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), which has increased by about 4.5% during the same time period. All numbers are courtesy of the TCSG data center.

The spring semester marks the third semester that Jim Glass has served SRTC as President. “I certainly credit the faculty and staff of SRTC with our remarkable growth,” commented Glass. “They are committed to providing the kind of high-quality education that is required in our service delivery area. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of students, employers, and the communities we serve. This is not easy work, but I am proud to say that our team continually puts forth the kind of effort that our students deserve. It is a wonderful time to be at SRTC.”

With the addition of new programs designed to meet the unique needs of students in the Southwest Georgia area, SRTC is poised to continue this trajectory of growth in the summer term and beyond. In 2020, college will add an innovative Saturday-only welding program called SRTC-Flex. This program continues the College’s mission of providing convenient courses in high-demand fields to meet the needs of both students and employers. More new programs are anticipated to begin during 2020 as well. Answering the call of area business and industry, a CNC Routing Program will be offered in Bainbridge. Spanning SRTC’s entire service delivery area, the new Interdisciplinary Studies program is designed to transfer seamlessly to four-year Georgia colleges and universities and will be comprised of core classes. Each of these programs have been designed to support continued growth at the college by meeting the real needs of students in their service delivery area.
SRTC offers over 155 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get you quickly into your desired career, and 28 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in Colquitt, Decatur, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Thomas, Tift, Turner, and Worth counties for the convenience of our students. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
