Workshops to help students apply for scholarships coming to Bainbridge

Marianne Ragins, winner of more than $400,000 in scholarship money, author of “Winning Scholarships for College” and president of The Scholarship Workshop will share with students and parents her secrets to applying for and winning scholarships at events in Cairo, Bainbridge and Thomasville.
Sponsored by the Pre-College Programs at Thomas University, the Scholarship Workshop is open to all students in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th grades who attend Thomasville City Schools, Thomas County Schools, Grady County Schools and Decatur County Schools.
There is no cost to attend a workshop.
The workshops are free for parents and students. Questions that will be covered include:
When is the best time to start searching for scholarships?
Where do I find these scholarships anyway?
What do scholarship committees look for?
How do I write a winning scholarship essay?
Seating is limited, so please pre-register using the link for the session you choose. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows.
6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Tiered Auditorium at Cairo High School (www.scholarshipworkshop.com/cairo)
10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Kirbo Center on the Bainbridge campus of Southern Regional Technical College (www.scholarshipworkshop.com/bainbridge)
2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Thomas County Schools Auditorium, located at 200 N. Pinetree Blvd. (www.scholarshipworkshop.com/thomas)
The Pre-College program is sponsored by Thomas University. The program receives funding from the U.S. Department of Education through the GEAR UP and Educational Talent Search programs. The purpose is to prepare middle school and high school students for postsecondary study.
It serves students and their families in Decatur, Grady, Thomas county schools as well as Thomasville City Schools.
