The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Bainbridge and surrounding area residents to join the Bainbridge Virtual Pep Rally set for Tuesday, September 15 at 12:00 pm. This inspirational virtual event will allow past, present and future participants to learn more about the Bainbridge Walk to End Alzheimer’s that will take place on October 24, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
The Bainbridge Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which attracts hundreds each year to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease, will look different this year. Instead of hosting a large gathering, the Alzheimer’s Association is encouraging participants to walk as individuals or in small groups on sidewalks, tracks and trails across Bainbridge.
Alzheimer’s Association staff and volunteer event committee will be on the webinar to answer any questions about the new Walk – Reimagined, and provide interested community members and local businesses with materials and tools to start their team.
More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 16 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Georgia alone, there are more than 150,000 people living with the disease and 540,000 caregivers.
