Katherine Andrews Spooner, 85, of Colquitt, Georgia, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020, at her residence. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 26, 2020, at 3:00 p.m., at the Colquitt First Baptist Church Worship Center, where Revs. Mark Worsley and Chad Cooper officiated.  A private interment followed in the Colquitt City Cemetery with Victor Alan Spooner, Andy Spooner, Michael Spooner, Andrew Worsley, Victor Bradley Spooner, and Nicholas Pesic serving as active pallbearers. Visitation was from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. preceding the services in the Worship Center.

 Mrs. Spooner was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 8, 1935, to Grady Edwin Andrews, and Alice Culbreth Andrews, and she grew up in Atlanta and Washington DC.  In her early twenties, Kathy was a Delta flight attendant, and, after marriage, went on to careers with Northwestern Mutual and the State of Georgia, but her favorite roles in life were those of wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and great-grandmother. She deeply loved her family, friends, and community, and that love was always returned in great measure.  Kathy was a member of Petworth Baptist Church in Washington DC, University Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC, and, after moving back to Georgia, she became a decades-long member of Colquitt First Baptist Church where she was involved in several ministries.

Mrs. Spooner was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Victor Z. Spooner, Jr.  She is survived by two daughters, Roxanne Worsley (and husband Mark) of Colquitt, and Katherine (Lynn) Pesic of Tallahassee; two sons, Victor Alan Spooner (and wife Celma) of Atlanta, and James Andrews (Andy) Spooner (and wife Lisa) of Colquitt; twelve grandchildren, Michelle Worsley of Colquitt, Andrew Worsley of Donalsonville, Amanda Irvine of Atlanta, Michael Spooner of Austin, Texas, Nicholas Pesic of Tallahassee, Lorena Wilson of Birmingham, Patricia Pereira of Atlanta, Sarah Spooner of Park City, Utah, Brooklyn Holt of Colquitt, Ashley Peevy of Port St Joe, Mary Katherine Spooner of Colquitt, and Victor Bradley Spooner of Lubbock, Texas; sixteen great-grandchildren, Aiden Henry, Mason Henry, Emma Harrell, Olivia Harrell, Andrew Jeremiah Worsley, Graham Irvine, Abigail Spooner, Lily Wilson, James Wilson, Sawyer Holt, Henry Holt, Isabella Peevy, Weston Peevy, Makaela Peevy,  Griffin Roach and Emmett Roach.  Kathy is also survived by her much-cherished younger sister, Clara Matthews, of Newnan, Georgia, and by several beloved nieces and nephews. She is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, and her boundless faith, kindness, generosity, and great courage live on as inspiration. We love you, “Kaky!”
