Peggy Ann Godby Bankston, age 73, of Donalsonville, Ga. passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 20, 2020 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Ala.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bankston were held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Iron City Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Hatchett and Rev. David Williams officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment followed at New Enterprise Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Blayne O’Hearn, Bobby Bankston, Blake Hicks, Roy Barber, Stephen Moss, and Tony Godby serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Butch Godby, Marc Godby, Tuddy Alday, and Dee Trawick.
Mrs. Bankston was born in Donalsonville on October 4, 1947 to Archie Godby and Louise Spooner Godby. She served as Clerk of Probate Court/Clerk of Magistrate Court for Seminole County for a number of years. Mrs. Bankston was a member of Iron City Baptist Church, she loved fishing and attending her grandson’s baseball games. She was an excellent basketball player and served as team captain during her high school years at Seminole County.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Robby Bankston; her children, Dawn Ready(Sloan Childree), Dena Hornsby, Bobby Bankston (Shara), and Prissy Willis (Ed); her siblings, Lewis Godby (Brenda), Sylvia James (Marlon), and Janice Mann (Roger); and her grandchildren, Blayne O’Hearn (Kaitlyn), Kaylee Ready, Blake Hicks, Brooke Hornsby, A’drea Hornsby, Robbie Bankston, Madelyn Bankston, Miller Bankston, Alexis Bankston, Tyler Willis, and Taylor Willis. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Miles O’Hearn, Abigale Vickers, and Holden Hicks.
Mrs. Bankston was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Louise Spooner Godby; a sister, Gail Godby; and two brothers, Joe Godby and Jerry Godby.
Arrangements were entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
